There are certain times where I like to just sit and be like “Alyssa, wah you really been doing?”
Sometimes it feels like it’s been a lot, but other times I’m like “Naa, not really.”
So, this is me taking stock. And you’re coming along for the journey.
“What have I been up to lately?” (I ask myself)
And this is my response (to myself).
Since January 1st 2020 I’ve:
- House-sat for my au-pair family in their BEAUTIFUL apartment.
- Worked on my blog and vlog simultaneously and consecutively.
- Hung out with my disappearing Australian cousin TWICE (He’s like the Australian version of ‘Where is Waldo’, really!).
- Went Bouldering (Rock climbing without the harness – bloop).
- Attended an Aboriginal festival on ‘Australia’ day here in Sydney.
- Celebrated a 40th birthday with the Caribbean community over here.
- Swam at Bondi Beach (popular Sydney beach) when it was 36 degress C or 105 degress F.
- Freaked myself out about my visa.
- Visited family and friends in New Zealand.
- Attended Maori ‘Waitangi day festivities’ in New Zealand.
- Went to Sydney’s Mardis Gras Fair!
- Kept a friend company in some not so favourable times.
- Attempted to make plans for my ‘Where to next after Australia’ travels (nothing’s solid yet!).
- Been heartbroken from news from back home.
- Been delighted that some things have worked out.
Doesn’t feel like a lot does it?
(But it kinda is though)
I think a big part of it is most of my days are now engrossed in video editing, writing and creating for Global Gyal. Less physically active, but more mentally active. So, it feels as though I’m not ‘doing’ anything, even though I am.
I’m 1,000% grateful for this time though.
To be able to do and focus and dedicate my time to my craft.
I’m also guessing that this ‘slow period’ is only prep for the ‘pace’ that’l lprobably enter my life in the next months.
I welcome it (once I’m prepared).
I’m planning and plotting though.
My next moves, the next steps.
My next adventure is formulating in my head.
And when I’ve decided, I think you’re going to enjoy it.
Thank you for following my journey so far.
What I truly love about it, is it feels like we’ve only just begun!
April 20th. Here I come.
Yours truly,
Global Gyal
