New Zealand, peace out.

Ma gone* (T*: “I am leaving”).

It was great knowin ya.

You taught me a lot, about myself and others.

You taught me….

  • That I can survive, ‘on my own’, far away from home & on the other side of the world.
  • That Caribbean people are far and wide.
  • That I love traveling and it’s what I want to do.
  • That people are genuinely niceeeeeee and will take care of you.
  • That a country can be ‘developed’ but also absolutely beautiful.

You gave me the space to make some new life decisions (pursue Global Gyal as a career for instance).

You solidified my belief in law of attraction, connections and positive vybz.

You linked me with friends that will last a life time, and solidified friendships I had before (if you could maintain contact with me with a 17hr time difference, we good).

You allowed me to explore in a safe, adventurous environment, with people who watched my back every step of the way.

You let me feel scared, excited, nervous, unsure, loved and appreciated.

New Zealand, you did wonders.

You introduced me to one of the many “Pacific” ways of life, and made me that much more versatile and adaptable.

You weren’t what I expected (size wise – smaller than I thought), but I think it was the right fit for my first big solo journey.

The people I met in your country made the biggest impact, and for that I say thank you.

It was in New Zealand that I decided to continue to travel, see where the wind would take me.

And it decided to take me to Australia.

NZ, you prepped me well for this.

So I’m ready.

Let’s go.

It was after this…

That I packed my bags, said bye to friends who had become family, and boarded a plane to Melbourne, Australia. There, I would stay for a few days before an Antiguan friend of would fly in. We’d drive a camper van along the south east coast of the continent, from Melbourne to Sydney. We’d stay at camp sites each night and visit a different beach each day.

It would be fantastic.

In Sydney, we’d stay and roam around for a few more days before I’d move into my new place and start my new job – as a live in nanny with the perfect family for me.

And it’s from there where I’d continue to share my story – on this blog, but also on Global Gyal’s official Youtube channel (<—click there to watch).

Welcome everyone, to the next step of Global Gyal.
