A Global Gyal reflection.

Looking back on my first couple months in Sydney, I realized I had a lot to be thankful for. And little did I know how much of an impact it would have on me a year later….

There was much uncertainty when I first arrived. My whole year was like a big question mark. What would my life look like in 3 months much less 10? Where would I be? What would I do?

So I planned to be flexible. It was all I really could do. But,

Turns out, it was more good than bad!

A job, a place to live, friends & family were secured within the first couple of weeks. It felt as though I set up shop from long time. And I wasn’t about to question it 🤷🏽‍♀️.

My set up was even better than I imagined. My necessities were taken care of. I was comfortable. I had all I needed to function physically, mentally and emotionally. And this allowed me to focus and zone in on my goals – of Global Gyal and enjoying life and what it had to offer.

Thinking back though

The same thing happened in New Zealand last year. And honestly, I thought it was a fluke.

I felt extremely grateful to have met the people that I did over there and share in my experiences. They lead me to these great ones in Australia.

But, how could something like that happen to someone twice?

How could I ‘luck out’ a second time?

Unheard of!

These kinds of opportunities do not come around often.

They are RARE. To be able to live in a country like New Zealand and Australia, freely, for a year, living on your own terms, guided by others, the ability to make your own decisions in all aspects – absolutely priceless.

In sitting and writing this, I just truly thought about how the stars aligned.

I think of people who dare not dream because they’re too focused on what next will be on their plate, when next they’ll find peace and safety. The only difference between them and me is where we started life on this earth.

I understand that I’m in a great position. To not have to question these types of things. And instead, I can use my energy and efforts to build up something like this? Global Gyal?

The opportunity is already one in a million.

So, I take this time to look and reflect – to pause and be aware. Be cautious. Be grateful. Be appreciative for everything that has come my way.

It humbles me every time.

It gives me that ‘life check’.

It brings me that, that little shake that reminds me, none of this is guaranteed. So, I HAVE to make the most of it.

With this greater sense of purpose

And overwhelming feeling of gratitude, I took the time and decided to turn Global Gyal up a notch. I decided to buckle down and get into a routine – to dedicate my day time to writing, editing and preparing content for the website, while evenings I worked my second job – as a nanny.

I begun brainstorming what my YouTube channel would look like. I continued recording, doing research, talking to people, sharing my ideas, hoping for positive feedback, yearning support, going with the flow, planning, organizing, plotting, you name it.

It was all there. It was all in my head.

And I got to put it down on paper and make it into sense. It brought me to one full year of operating the blog. And now, a YouTube channel too.

Me oh my.

The blessings. The blessings. The blessings.

Yours Truly,

Global Gyal
