*Puts on DJ announcer voice* We taking you back, back, backkk in timeeee…..
Only to about December 2018 though (hehe)

Oh Alyssa

Here’s the Australia Background Story:

It was about mid December 2018 and I was in New Zealand. My NZ visa expired at the end of the January, and I planned to move to Australia after (I applied and got approved for a visa over there).

Did I know what I was going to do in Australia (work wise) ? No

Did I know where I was going to live (apartment/house wise)? Nope.

But I did know this:

1. I was going to explore.

2. I was going to get a full time job and save.

3. I was NOT staying the whole year ’cause I was not going through that winter thing again. (I was traumatized from no heat in houses in NZ)

I decided I MUST live in the city (cause I’ve just always wanted to do that) and I would live life to the fullest while also saving money (gotta keep a balance). I had planned to do more globe trotting before I returned to the Caribbean for good in the summer. So, every cent counted.

Now,

In between all of this, I told my friends in NZ I was moving to Australia. One of them then told me, “Join this group on Facebook – it’s called Sistas in Australia and New Zealand ”

It was a group specifically dedicated to black women/women of colour who lived in the two countries. Um Okay? If I was being completely honest, I really wasn’t gunna bother. But, she went ahead and added me to the group before I thought any more of it, so I let it be.

Little did I know how vast an impact this one group and this one move, would have on my journey in the very near future….

Of course there’s a Part 2 (and 3)! Read Pt 2 of the story here.
